Abramovich sanctioned, Chelsea pay the price

Roman Abramovic has recently been forced to sell Chelsea football club due to his links with Russian leader, Vladimir Putin. The sale of Chelsea football club, which is currently on hold, has resulted in numerous sanctions that could have a huge impact on the football club.

The sanctions have been made by the UK government and has caused the fans of Chelsea FC to retaliate in protest.

Steven Swinford announced:

'The Government would need to give special dispensation for the sale of Chelsea and he (Abramovic) will not get a penny from the sale of the club.'

Broadcaster and Author John Simpson took to Twitter to say:

'Roman Abramovic has a highly dodgy relationship with Vladimir Putin and has paid the price. The incredibly clumsy way the sanctions have been imposed means that Chelsea FC has been collateral damage. Shocking.'

People have started this as a direct attack on Chelsea FC. They feel this hasn't got anything to do with Roman Abramovich but just an unprovoked attack.

The deepest thing about this current Chelsea FC crisis is that the formal decision has been made on Chelsea's 117th birthday.

First of all, all UK assets have been frozen, meaning that Chelsea can no longer use players that have made their way through their academy. Practically any player they haven't bought can not play currently.

Chelsea will now have to operate under a special licence for sale, but the usual operation for sales is now banned amongst the club.

The biggest factor of the bunch is that Chelsea is exempt from either signing a new player or offering a contract to a current player. Because of this, players like Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and experienced defender Cesar Azpilicueta are at risk due to being close to the end of their contract.

Chelsea FC will also not make any revenue from their club shop at its been temporary shut. All Chelsea merchandise is not able to be purchased.

Tickets will be stopped, meaning season ticket holders will be the only people that'll be allowed to attend.

Because ticket sales are stopped, this also means away fans will not be allowed in until the foreseeable future.

On top of this, Chelseas sponsor Three UK has also suspended sponsorship of the club, including its logo from shirts around Stamford bridge until further notice.

Due to all the money-making privileges taken away from Chelsea FC, the club is now at massive risk if nothing gets done about it.

To make things worse with all this crisis, Jamie Carragher mentioned how Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel would be a great fit for Manchester United.

'Manchester United have been presented with the ideal opportunity to recruit the manager who should be their number one target: Thomas Tuchel.'

'Given the events at Chelsea, United's decision to wait until the end of the season presents them with a choice no-one could have foreseen.'

'One of the best managers in the world - the current FIFA coach of the year - must be top of their list. Tuchel, like everyone at Stamford Bridge, will have no idea what the future hold at his current club.'

'No-one can offer him any assurance about how the squad will look at the start of the season given the club's sale is on hold. No manager wants to be working amid such a background of uncertainty.'

'If he gets the chance to leave for a club of United's stature, he must take it. United can offer him the security and backing every top coach craves.'

'Yes, it will seem a predatory move - taking advantage of Chelsea's crisis - but United and Tuchel's perspective the more you consider it, the more of a no-brainer it is.'

Chelsea plays Norwich tonight at Carrow Rd, a 19:30 kick-off. Chelsea currently sits 3rd place in the Premier League. Because of the removal of the three sponsorship, their kit for tonight will be slightly different.

The only revenue Chelsea FC can create is from Season Ticket holders, people buying food at half time and TV broadcast. Even though they can still make a lot of money from this, the privileges taken away from the West London club will still be very damaging.
