After a poor season, Derby County has officially helped themselves in another Championship stay after a 3-3 draw against Sheffield Wednesday, who went down due to a 6 point deduction after not being able to pay club finances.
The Rams started the game poorly and, Wayne Rooney's men went down on the brink of halftime with a goal from Sam Hutchingson. At this point, people were expected to see the Rams go down, but four minutes after the interval, Martyn Waghorn got himself on the score street.
Derby County then levelled up further with a curling shot from Patrick Roberts in the 52nd minute, talks of poor goalkeeper positioning from Kieren Westwood were speculated after this finish though.
It then went downhill for the Rams and, it looked like a place in League One was going to take place after Callum Paterson and Julian Borner found themselves on the scoreboard, making it 3-2 to Sheffield Wednesday.
But then, when all things looked in the mud for the Derbyshire side, The Rams was given a chance to stick the ball into the back of the net with a 78th-minute penalty. Martyn Waghorn stepped up and calmly placed it into the back of the net, securing Derbys stay in the Championship.
Despite Derby fighting and ultimately achieving a Championship stay, they still massively underperformed throughout the season. People saw Wayne Rooney being the manager as a bad idea due to how inexperienced the Manchester United legend is at managing.

Throughout the season, Derby fans have been vocal and supportive of their team and have supported them through the tough period after the result, Derby County fans, were seen making noise outside Pride Park with black flares and, a massive banner saying "Leave everything on the pitch, it is all we ask, come on Derby."
The Rams ended their season with only 44 points and a -22 goal difference. In the 46 games, they took part in what's less than the points they achieved, (44) they obtained 11 wins, 11 draws and a whopping 24 losses.
A majority of people got proved wrong from the position Derby County finished in, especially HITC Sport's 'The Irish Man' who guessed that the Rams would obtain a second-place finish and get into the Premier League. The prediction from HITC Sport goes to show how surprising this league position is.
Derby's main rivals are Nottingham forest due to how close both the cities are to one another. After Derby's celebrations from staying up, a lot of Nottingham Forest fans called their celebrations embarrassing, which is seen as ironic as Nottingham Forest had a pitch invasion in May 2017 after beating Ipswich 3-0 at the end of the season.
The argument now is after Derby has breached financial fair play rules, they could end up getting the same sanction as Sheffield Wednesday and go down. The EFL is currently pushing for a sanction and it'll be announced within a few days.

The breaching of financial fair play boiled down from the manner in how the club took the benefit of player registrations over the lifetime of a player contract. The player being Richard Keogh, who has now recently secured a payout of around £2.3m after being sacked from Derby County in 2019. He got sacked for getting into a car with an intoxicated driver that ended in a car crash.
Relegated team Wycombe wanderers came out and released a statement on social media saying "We respect the process and are not contemplating legal action at this time, contrary to media speculation." Wycombe Wanderers could stay up if a Derby County point deduction takes place but the Buckinghamshire side is more in favour of a legitimate stay.
Hopefully, for Derby County, they won't see a sanction of point deduction take place and, they can continue to play their football in the EFL Championship. After finishing so poorly, a lot of Derby County fans are crying for a new owner as they deem Melvyn Morris as not good enough.
Sadly for The Rams, a takeover from Erik Alonso who is a Spanish businessman is now off. The Spaniard had agreed on a deal to purchase the club on the 7th of April but since then has failed to close the transaction.
After the Sheffield Wednesday game, Wayne Rooney was well aware of what needs to be done next season to stay up, saying Derby County cannot afford "any more mess-ups' if they are to avoid another relegation scare next season. He also called for an end to the off-field uncertainty that has overshadowed a disappointing campaign.
Wayne Rooney also said, "There's been no-one stepping up, maybe aside from Kazum-Richards." Wayne Rooney is hopeful of a massive rebuild to see Derby County be back in the position it should be. Even if Wayne Rooney is not in charge next season, Derby County is hopeful of a much more convincing season for the 2021/22 season.
