BREAKING: European Super League Announced

After almost 30 years of talk about a European Super League being formed. Recently it's been announced that the ESL will start in August 2021.

With the recent announcement, the Super League has received a lot of stick from fans and pundits.

The new idea of the Super League is seen as the most monumental thing to happen in the English game and a majority of fans see this as the end of football due to the fact of no relegation and the amount of money greed surrounding the European Super League.

A picture was circulating social media of a ball made of money captioned "Super League ball?" joking about the fact that the movement is more about money than a move in the right direction for the beautiful game.

The format of the ESL is understood to be games to be played in the middle of the week with two groups including 10 teams each. The top four teams of each group will qualify for the knockout stages and the final will take place on the weekend.

Essex senior league team and Spencer FC owned team Hashtag United jokingly made a tweet about the Super League saying "ANNOUNCEMENT: After careful consideration, we've decided that we won't be participating in the European Super League." A lot of Premier League fans hoped their teams take the same approach Hashtag United have taken and are saddened to hear the opposite result.

The German League (Bundesliga) and French League (Ligue 1) have backed out of the idea of the Superleague at the moment so teams like PSG, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will still play in their current leagues. The top teams from the Italian League (Seria A) Spanish League (La Liga) and English League (Premier League) will participate in the Super League.

Despite teams and representatives of Bundesliga teams denying joining in with the Super League, Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamdzic is working towards the admission of his club being in the ESL, with German club RB Leipzig also being interested in the suspected league.

PSG are one of the main teams that are known to be refusing the idea of being in the ESL according to the Daily Mail. If the French team say yes it's understood the idea will go forward.

Ex-Man United and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville summed the whole situation perfectly, saying "Manchester United, Spurs and Arsenal are not even in the Champions League. Arsenal is a shambles of a club and they expect a god given right to go into the ESL? It's disgusting. Deduct points. Deduct money. Punish them."

"The owners of all of these clubs are imposters. They have nothing to do with football in this country. They're bottle merchants. You never hear from the owner of these clubs. They have no voice."

"We are in the midst of a pandemic, an economic crisis, clubs at the bottom of the national league are folding, and these owners are on zoom calls talking about more money. It's pure greed, It's an absolute joke."

From the news breaking of the Super League, British Prime-minster Boris Johnson as well as Oliver Dowden are planned to draw up potential government-enforced consequences for the six English clubs if they go ahead with the Super League idea.

As the Super League is very money-based and is put forward by billionaire Entrepreneurs, every club that joins in the league will get a cash injection of around £350 million to £425 million if they accept the invitation. As the money that comes with it for the clubs is so much, this is attracting clubs further to join in with the League.

In total clubs that have committed to the ESL will receive a staggering £3.5 billion solely to support their infrastructure investment plans and to offset the impact of the Covid Pandemic says Ty Marshall.

The level of money teams have been promised will not only see a rise in the value of players but will also attract more teams to take part in the ESL.

The organisation of this league is very US-based, with a lot of billionaires working together to make this idea a reality. The way the ESL is set out is a lot like that of the NBA which makes sense with the thought process of the American buyers and co-operators. The Chairman is Florentino Perez, The Vice-chairman is Joel Glazer & Andrea Agnelli, the head of communication is Chemical Ali, The advisory board is Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini, The script is Jed Mercurio and the producer is David Lynch. Arsenal chairman Stan Kroenke also played a big part in this.

Some extra news on the ESL has recently been released, explaining it will go ahead in 2022 with Founding Members being: AC Milan, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid & Tottenham.

In the statement, it said: "The founding clubs hope to engage in conversations with UEFA & FIFA to find the best solutions for this new league & football in its entirety. The creation of The Super League comes at a moment where the pandemic has accelerated instability in the European football economy."

Adding "For several years, the founding clubs had as an aim to improve the quality & intensity of the existing European competitions & in particular to create a tournament where the best clubs & the best players can face each other."

Finishing with "In recent months, a dialogue was had with the institutions about the future of European competitions & their format. The clubs in The Super League think that the solutions offered by the institutions do not sort out the fundamental necessity to offer matches of better quality."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was also against this proposal: “I hope this Super League will never happen. With the way the UCL is now running, football has a great product, even with the Europa League. For me, the UCL is the Super League, in which you do not always end up playing against the same teams."

“Why should we create a system where Liverpool faces Real Madrid for ten straight years? Who wants to see that every year?”

A powerful sign going around saying "Created by the poor, stolen by the rich" perfectly describes the direction football has headed over the past hours.

It's not known whether the top 6 will play in the Premier League after 2022. over the next few days, this will come more clear to people.

Its been recently reported that three more teams will be promoted in La Liga and Serie A next season, six more teams will be promoted in Premier League. The newly promoted teams could be Norwich, Watford, Swansea, Brentford, Bournemouth and Barnsley.

Another thing that will come clear over the next few days is the reaction of UEFA and FIFA towards ESL. FIFA and UEFA are against the idea, and the money the co-operations generate can make the whole situation blow up completely.

It is confirmed from Florentino Perez that the ESL will start as early as this coming August and looks to be in full swing as soon as possible.
